For many reasons, I have decided to run for 2016-2017 IEEE President-Elect via petition.  I would like to request you to sign my petition electronically at http://www.ieee.org/petition using your IEEE web account. Please go to the Society Elections Petitions tab. Please note that this petition is only for me to be added to the ballot. This does not bind you to vote for or against any candidate.

To be added to the ballot, 602 or more signatures are required by 12:00 noon EDT USA/16:00 UTC on Friday, 8 May 2015 to be counted.

In addition to your own signature, please support the petition drive by:

  • Asking other IEEE members (including graduate students) to sign the on-line petition
  • Collecting written signatures in your office or at events using the paper petition form attached here. Please note that the signed petition forms with original signatures need to be mailed to Mr. Pat Ryan at PES at the address given in the form.

I have served on the PES governing board for over 10 years as vice president for Outreach & New Initiatives, Education and Publications. I was the founding editor-in-chief of the IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy, and now I am serving as the editor-in-chief of the IEEE Electrification Magazine. I have also served on the IEEE Board as the vice president of Publications. If you are interested, you can find more about my IEEE work and otherwise at www.saifurrahman.org.

Best regards,
